Research shows that, actually, millennials do have it harder than baby boomers did
Every generation believes that it was tougher for them. Millennials look enviously at the house price inflation of the 1980s and 1990s, defined benefit pension schemes and ‘jobs for life’. Boomers admit that house prices are expensive, but if millennials stopped spending all their money on avocado toast, they’d have a deposit in no time.
However, new research shows that Millennials do have it tougher. Two new pieces of research (from the Resolution Foundation and loans group Freedom Finance), looked at house buying, working life, savings and retirement shows that they fare worse across the board.
